What exactly is Portrait Photography?

Diffuse your light source

Utilize a diffuser such as a softbox or a white sheet to help to soften light and create a more flattering effect.

 

Use a longer lens

A 50mm lens can be considered a mid-range telephoto lens, and is a common length that portrait photographers in Las Vegas prefer to utilize. The length of this lens can result in an ordinary, but not extraordinary scene. Utilize a larger lens like the 85mm-200mm range, to create greater image compression without distorting the pixels. A longer focal length can aid in bringing your background closer to create a lively image.

 

Try a different position

By breaking the rule of thirds, you will give your photos a different perspective. Photograph at angles that aren't as good-composed, or at your subject's eye in the same level. It is possible to shoot photos from different angles and different distances around the model. Shoot from an aerial viewpoint or from the side, change up your pose, or try a candid shot to find the most flattering angle to your photo.

 

Create your own lighting

The camera's flash is an essential feature that lets light shine into your photos, but it doesn't always provide the brightness you require.
