Residential Tree Trimming Service

Despite their strength, endurance, and invincibility, they are not invincible. Their trunks can hold their strength, but as the tree ages, its branches may begin to weaken. These branches can be dangerous for the tree and anyone living near it. They are more susceptible to falling on anything or hitting it. They also block sunlight from reaching healthier branches. This is when it is time for them to be trimmed. How can you tell the difference between a dead and a healthy branch?

You should pay attention to these signs:

  • Excessive Tree Fall: Leaves naturally fall off trees, especially up North where there's a fall season (also known locally as the pumpkin spice and coffee seasons). It is possible that they have fallen off too much or are more exposed than other branches. This could indicate that they are dead.
  • Broken Bark: As trees age, old bark becomes brittle and is replaced with healthy bark. If the bark has fallen off of dead branches, it isn't replaceable so be on the lookout for missing bark.
  • Limitation on Flexibility: If the branch is reachable, bend it. Healthy branches are flexible and healthy branches are more flexible than dead branches, which are stiffer and more likely to snap. If crackling sounds emanate from a dead tree branch, it may be bent.
  • Remove the Surface. A thin layer of green that is found within healthy trees lies beneath the tree's top. To check for green under the tree's bark, lightly scratch the surface. You may need a saw to cut through the outer bark layer of some older trees.
